It is no secret that grenade launchers are one of the best weapon classes for doing massive boss damage inDestiny 2. But with thenerf to auto-reload mechanicsin the Shadowkeep expansion, some of the staple grenade launchers of the past like The Mountaintop have fallen to the wayside to be replaced by grenade launchers like Wendigo GL3.
The Wendigo is part of what many consider to bethe best PvE loadout in the game right now. But the new Love and Death grenade launcher from the Moon loot pool can be even better with the right perk roll. This weapon is a little more rare, at least at the time of this writing, so here is how players can get their hands on it.

Love and Death comes from the Essence of Insanity quest using the Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon like the other Essence quests inDestiny 2. Currently, the best way to get the Essence of Insanity is by completing public events and opening chests on the Moon. It is completely up to RNG, which is why fewer players appear to have this Essence as compared to others.
However, the more reliable way for players to get this Essence will be in the Nightmare Hunt: Insanity, which has yet to appear in the game. WhenNightmare Huntsappear that match the name of one of the Essence quests, the drop rate for that Essence is dramatically increased in its matching Nightmare Hunt. At the time of this writing, the Essence of Insanity’s Nightmare Hunt has yet to appear; however, when it is active, it will be the best way to get it to drop.
Once players get the Essence of Insanity, they will need to get 100 grenade launcher kills in strikes, Gambit, or the Crucible. Then, they will need tofind the Bound Manacleby defeating a special Hive Knight in the Gatehouse area of the Moon. Then players can return to the Lectern of Enchantment to get it. From there, players can spend Phantasmal Cores to pick up the quest again from the Lectern in order to complete the 100 grenade kills again and try again for another roll.
The roll players want to look out for is Volatile Launch, Spike Grenades, Field Prep, and Full Court with a Blast Radius Masterwork. Then, players will want to equip a Boss Spec mod to the weapon, as the primary purpose for this roll is to deal massive amounts of damage to bosses.
