It’s getting to be that time of year whenmajor video game publishers are reportingon the next fiscal year of launches and into the foreseeable future. As such, Ubisoft’s financial conference call for investors and analysts revealed five upcoming games that would be released for both current-genandnext-generation consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Project Scarlett.
Anticipation for both next-gen consoles has been ramping up in recent months, with Sonyteasing its current PS5 title lineupand the Xbox Scarlett preparing to launch sometime in the holiday season of 2020. Therefore, it’s no wonder that publishers are getting ready to bring their titles to the next generation too, and that includes all of Ubisoft’s announced titles going forward.

Ubisoft recently surprised fans bydelaying three of its upcoming games, and now, Ubisoft has confirmed thatWatch Dogs: Legion, Gods & Monsters,andRainbow Six Quarantine, in addition totwo unannounced AAA titles, would all be made for next-gen consoles. When asked, Ubisoft’s chief executive officer Yves Guillemot said, “The five titles, yes, they will be on this generation and the next generation, and they will take full advantage all the new features that are coming with the machines, which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players.” Guillemot also added that next-gen players would “be able to download new content a lot faster,” and “experience better frame rate,” promising that “lots of very good elements will come with these new machines.”
All of these games are coming during the next fiscal year, which means some time between June 08, 2025, and July 24, 2025, and the arrival of new consoles makes Ubisoft optimistic about their eventual launch. “We consider that the coming of the new consoles will boost the market quite a lot, as what happens with these new consoles is that Sony and Microsoft are generally coming with good volume for those new machines,” Guillemot continued. “It’s going to be lots of marketing and lots of new machines there that will increase the market potential.” Ubisoft hopes that releasing these five games (which presumablyincludes the nextAssassin’s Creedentry too)in such close proximity to the new consoles means that they’ll be sellable for a long time to come.
Besides all that, Ubisoft’s financial call also revealed the company’s plan to release between three and four AAA games per year after the fiscal year 2021–clearly, fans will be kept busy. But even those who don’t plan to buy a next-generation console right away shouldn’t worry; Ubisoft plans for the two generations to coexist for some time going forward. Basically, it’s good news for gamers regardless of their current console plans.
